Upon closer inspection, I noticed a "PAT D JULY 14, 1908" towards the bottom of the jar. To be honest, I wondered who was this Pat D? Was this his jar? Did he preserve peaches or jams? Then, of course, I realized that Pat ' D was not a person at all, but merely an abbreviation for patented.
